Going Deeper
‘Going Deeper – in Youth Ministry’ is a weekend training session which explores some of the fundamentals of youth ministry leadership. There is a good mix of theoretical and practical elements which is designed for maximum learning.
Going Deeper was developed in 2011 by Carlton Johnstone, Gordon Fithc, Nga Larson, Steph Redhead and Emily Wotton.
The Content
It is about Youth Leaders following a calling into Youth Ministry. It is a chance to immerse yourself in what youth ministry is, spend the weekend diving deeper into the fundamentals of youth work. The sessions, which have been developed by national and regional Presbyterian Youth Ministry staff, include:
- Relational Youth Ministry
- Safety Functions
- Faith Development
- Evaluation
- The Big Picture
- Worship
The weekend is very practical with each participant working as part of a team, using what they have learned, and running a mock youth event over the weekend.
