Congregational Consultancy
Carlton is available to consult with your key leadership, session, and congregation about ministry to young people and young adults.
This can happen in at different levels:
It might be a conversation with a minister whose church is interested in exploring youth ministry and wondering about where to begin. Initial conversations are sometimes about exploring the possibilities and opportunities and the way forward to make these a reality.
It could be a presentation to your session/parish council that gets them thinking about youth ministry in new ways and facilitates a conversation about how to move forward. T
The consultation might be at a wider congregational level that provides a clearer sense of the openness and willingness of a congregation to make required changes or explore potential opportunities or to reassess you do what you do when it comes to ministry with young people and young adults.
You might already have a core group of young people would like some input into how you might be more strategic as you engage young people or how youth ministry can become more sustainable. Questions of sustainability also need to be asked in relation to employing a youth worker and areas of best practice and having realistic expectations.
The level of consultancy might involve rethinking and critiquing your current church culture that can either hinder or strengthen your ministry to and with young people. This is about the culture and environment that youth ministry takes place in. PYM wants to see churches where young people thrive in their faith and life.
Some conversations have been on the topic of ministry to young adults and whether to start a new service or is there a better integrated approach. Some of these conversations tap into Carlton’s doctoral research on the faith journeys of young adults.
